Eagle Bay Heirlooms is pleased to offer in this listing a beautiful little piece of history. W.H. Grindley Co was an English Pottery Company that made earthenware and ironstone tableware including Flow Blue. The company was founded in 1880 by William Harry Grindley, of Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent, England.

This pattern named "Portman" is a beautiful Flow Blue on white semi-porcelain and has a floral embossed scalloped band with a beaded edge and raised floral designs next to the beading and semi-circular embossed designs on the inner ring. Deep cobalt blue scrolls, with flowers and leaves designs around the band. This pattern dates to 1891-1914.

THIS LISTING IS FOR a Round Covered Soup Tureen with hole in lid for ladle (ladle not included).
This measures 9.75" Wide, 12.5" from Handle to Handle, 5.25" Base Diameter and 7.25" High to top of handle on lid. Marked on the base in cobalt blue with the Grindley Trademark dating to 1891.

A simply fabulous piece which is in outstanding shape. The stunning detailed handles on bowl and lid, slightly scalloped base with florals designs near bottom. Around the bulbous part of the bowl wide band of the Portman pattern and having a pedestal shaped body. A great addition to an English Country Farmhouse Decor.

Condition is excellent antique condition. A couple ever so slight nibs on the edge of the lid, which can be seen in the last photo. There may also be some normal manufacturing flaws such as kiln marks, peppering of blue or bleeding of cobalt enamel. No lines, stains, chips or significant defects.
