The antique washed field features a hexagonal concentric medallion patterned with an all-over Herati design. The Classic Herati pattern, also known as the Mahi or Fish pattern, is amongst the most widespread and well known of all Persian designs, consisting of a flower centered in a diamond accompanied by curving lanceolate leaves that resemble fish. Immersed in ancient Persian history, this vintage Tabriz rug is full of symbolism. Hexagons with their six sides represent a symbol of perfect union as hexagons are created from equal parts and the energetic emblem of soulful integration.
