Vintage Suzani from Samarkand, circa 1950s.
“Suzani” derives from the Persian word "suzan" for "needle" and refers to bright silk embroidered wall hangings and bedspreads that adorned homes of people on festive occasions.
Silk embroidery on a cotton base.
While this suzani is in wonderful condition, there are small stains and signs of wear on this suzani, that are expected in items of this age.
