This painting was inspired by my father's slides from the 1970s. He was in France and he snapped this moment … more This painting was inspired by my father's slides from the 1970s. He was in France and he snapped this moment of the priest entering the church. I was struck by the stark contrast of the black robes against the bright yellow doors. I originally thought I'd try it in oils, but I couldn't get the watercolor version out of my head.
