A rare and important chair designed in 2000 by the Campana Brothers and produced for Hidden, The Netherlands. The chair is constructed of bamboo and electrostatically-painted iron. The bamboo gives the appearance of floating inside the frame. The chair has a beautiful and delicate profile, while combining elements of nature with industry. The Taquaral chair is in the collection at The Oscar Niemeyer Museum.
"A staple in many of the Campana Brothers creations, bamboo, one of the most sustainable materials today, lends itself to a wide array of applications, from resistant structures in furniture to light decorative objects. with very little interference to the original shape, respecting its natural state.
“Bamboo also comes from our childhood— there were plantations of bamboos where we grew up. Many people would dry the bamboo in front of their houses. Our ideas for how to use the material stem from seeing all those piles of bamboo. Also, it’s a material you can bend, it’s not heavy, so we were keen to explore applications of the lightness of the material.” Humberto Campana
