They are costumes designs for the Ballets Russes created by Leon Bakst. They originally appeared in a 1927 French magazine article that featured Bakst designs. These designs were from 6 various ballet produtions as indicated under each design. Leon Bakst was a creative genius, a Russian born painter and artist of exoctic, richly colored and textural costume designs and theater sets. These costume designs have intricate patterning and elaborate coloring. The paper is embossed with silver and gold metallic inks which were rare and unique to fashion and design works from the Art Deco period. Excellent, clean condition. Each 8.5 x 8.75 inches. Each comes matted in a neutral tone 16 x 20 inch mat ready for standard size frames. You are purchasing 3 matted lithographs. Perfect home decor for the dance connoisseur or collector.
