Artist Biography:
Born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, Mr. Record, a graduate of Paschal High School, attended Tarrant County Junior College and had studied with several notable artists. He was mostly self-taught, however, and worked in several areas of graphics, including engraving, lithograph and etchings.
In 1986, Mr. Record won best of show in the first national competition of Architecture in Perspective, sponsored by a division of the American Institute of Architects and judged in Boston. His winning work was a free-hand pencil drawing of the Texas Capitol Dome. The drawing is included in a recently published book, Architecture in Perspective, published by Van Nostrand-Rheinhold and distributed internationally. He later was one of six finalists for Texas State Artist of the Year.
He considered himself a chronicler of architecture and one thing he particularly wanted to accomplish was to make a visual record of historic architecture for future generations. Knowing that many of the structures would be destroyed, he made many drawings of historical buildings and landmarks in the area and most recently was working on a drawing of the Reynolds house, which recently was bulldozed. Unfortunately he passed away in 1992 at the age of 36.
