The colors - deep browns, canary yellow and a rich, blue-green teal - are luminous, and the textures of the clay and glazes are clearly a nod to ancient pottery from Greece and Tuscany. Famous for his attenuated, highly stylized horses, hounds and other animals, often executed in iron or ceramic, William Hunt Diederich was one of the masters of Art Deco imagery. The bowl is signed on the reverse. less
