Meticulously handwork that densely depicts repeated motifs of birds in flight among lush peony blossom in the central panel, which is surrounded by a rectangular band of flower pattern. The outer border features larger peonies interspersed with eight animals, both real and mythological including lion, tiger, deer, horse elephant and Qiling.
The tapestry is not mounted or framed. It has no backing as shown and the embroidery knots can be seen in the last photo. less
