The relatively large … more A Japanese four-case inro with string and an amber bead ojime of Meiji period circa 19th century. The relatively large inro has a black lacquered background with fine detailed gold hiramaki-e decoration. On one side, a cluster of three huts stand under the pine and maple trees by the edge of the water, on the other side, a pair of wood barrels that were used to fetched water was curiously left by the water, under the watch of a half-hidden crescent silver moon. Both sides features small hills and clouds of gold fundame (ikakeji) in the far ground, and rocky outcrops with gold kirigane (small square inlays) in the foreground. The interior is of black urushi, not signed. less
