Here’s an unusual and interesting French Art Deco chandelier with opalescent shades, the shades being a little later than the 1920s fixture itself (probably 1940s).
The fixture is made of solid brass and has its original two-tone nickel finish, albeit in “antique” condition (the photos are accurate). The finish at present is more like a “one-tone” dark finish than its original two-tone.
Rewired, and fitted with an American candelabra socket in the bottom glass, capable of hosting a small 7-watt bulb.
The four other sockets are the original French bayonet sockets, so you will need to use bayonet-mounting bulbs, which are readily available in a variety of wattages. The bowls aren’t particularly deep, so physically smaller bulbs are best hidden by the glass. HOWEVER: Accompanying your purchase will be 4 adapters which, when inserted into the bayonet sockets, allow the use of American candelabra-based bulbs, which you can get at any hardware store. So, if you're uncomfortable about acquiring or using bayonet-mounting bulbs, that's just been resolved for you!
The opalescent glass has excellent depth and has nice gold colors when lit and slightly cloudy blue colors when not, as you can see from the photos (two of which show the glass against a darker background).
This fixture is longer than “normal,” with a total drop of 34 inches including the finial. The measurement from the outside of one bowl to the outside of another on the same side is 19 inches.abl less
