Maurice L Bower was born in Ohio and began to draw at a very young age. In his youth, he travelled between Paris and Philadelphia, working for The Saturday Evening Post, painting several magazine covers. In his early years, Bower worked in charcoal. Later his paintings became more realistic and literal, as he switched to oils.
