The basic idea here is an elaboration of late 19th century east Caucasian designs as immediately evident in the eleven (!) patterned borders, including a main stripe with the wedgie shoe design. The red field displays a Chi-Chi originated all-over ornamentation with additional Persian floral elements. This circa 1890 western Turkish carpet is unlike the typical Oushak in its manifold borders and small-scale field pattern. less
