Original horizontal scroll painting, "Leaping Over the Heaven's Gate". Ink on paper, with grey silk damask.
"Carp leaping over the heaven's gate" is based on the Chinese mythology named "Liyu Tiao Long Men". Originally used as a metaphor for a person’s success in passing very difficult imperial examinations, required for entry into imperial administrative service.
Commissioned by interior designer Lucia Lawrence and hand-painted in Hong Kong by renowned folk painter Master Jin Sang.
