It comes from an unbound portfolio … Read more This is a very RARE Art Nouveau chromolithograph that dates to the late 1800’s. It comes from an unbound portfolio called La Flore Décorative which contained decorative plates of art nouveau designs. This print is entitled “Araliées”; it refers to a very large family of plants that consist of over 70 varied species. The aralia is a striking, multi stemmed plant that is characterized by hand-shaped leaves. The aralia comes in a variety of forms, deciduous and evergreen shrubs as well as beautiful indoor plants. This chromolithograph image showcases the structure of the plant, its blossoms, stems, seed pods, leaf anatomy, etc. It is an accurate botanic study. It is numbered (Pl. 47). The print is pristine and clean. There are minor indications of age at the print’s edges (small tears that have been museum repaired) that do not affect the image. The soft color palate is very beautiful. This is a very special find as it was originally produced for very limited circulation. Because of its beauty and appeal the images are often reproduced to be sold today. This is an ORIGINAL! It has the illustrator’s initials. It is a large print, 10 x 14 ½ inches including the documentation; the plate is 13 ½ x 18 inches to the exterior edges. See less
