- A stunning 1941 gouache on artist board by Spanish born Belgian artist Mercedes Legrand. The work according to her bio … more A stunning 1941 gouache on artist board by Spanish born Belgian artist Mercedes Legrand. The work according to her bio was likely painted in Avignon while she was in hiding from the Nazi's. The work features a young girl in an interior with a courtyard that features wonderful Thonet cafe chairs and a woven rattan and bamboo armchair. The linen draped table features a beret, a notepad, some papers and what appears to be a few pieces of fruit. All around it's a lovely image. I had the work professionally framed a few years ago. The liner in the frame is real gold, not paint. The work (sight) measures 18.5" by 23.75." less
