This Andy Warhol rare vintage 1976 lithograph print custom framed " Images of an Era : The American Poster 1945 - 1975 " iconic Pop Art exhibition poster is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The lithograph print exhibition poster is published by The Institute of Contemporary Arts Nash House, London. Printed in England in 1976 by Westerham Press in an unnumbered limited edition on the occasion of the exhibition. It features an artwork image originally created by Warhol in 1967 for The 5th New York Film Festival, Omnific / Andy Warhol copyright 1967 List Art Foundation, courtesy of Pace Editions Inc.
The artwork image was originally chose by The List Art Poster Program developed by Lincoln Center to advertise The 5th New York Film Festival. The image by Warhol remains one of the most emblematic artworks of this program. The artwork of an enlarged movie ticket is among the best examples of Warhol's Pop Art approach to selecting ordinary objects and magnifying them to an extent that transcends their commonness.
That Warhol poster image was selected among 257 posters to be reproduced on the front fold out cover of the exhibition catalogue book and this exhibition poster for " Images of an Era : The American Poster 1945 - 1975 ", a major iconic exhibition dedicated to the American poster in 1975. Organized by The National Collection of The Smithsonian Institution Washington D.C.. The Exhibition toured Houston, Chicago, and New York in 1975, and also traveled in Europe in 1976 - 1977.
The rare out of print framed lithograph print Pop Art exhibition poster measures 21 1/2" W X 31 1/4" H X 3/4" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a classic Modern matte satin finish black metal museum box style frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
