- An Elegant French bronze figure of the floating sensuous goddess Aurora with a star atop her head after Josef Michel-Ange … more An Elegant French bronze figure of the floating sensuous goddess Aurora with a star atop her head after Josef Michel-Ange Pollet, circa 1814-1870. A very fine bronze patina, green patinated bronze draped robe. This model was understandably one of the artist’s most celebrated works. Une Heure de la Nuit was first exhibited in plaster at the Salon of 1848 and a marble version was soon after commissioned by the French Ministry of the interior at a cost of 15,000 francs. Pictured in bronzes of the 19th century, by P. Kjellberg, page 550.--may be a later 19th century restrike and is priced as such. This item cannot be returned or exchanged.
