A most extraordinary screen with lush raised gemstones and stones! An Important rare 19th century antique Edo period Japanese five-panel lacquer and Luxurious Stone screen decorated with a view of various birds, flora and fauna and auspicious motifs in precious raised hard Stone inlays of jade, nephrite, carnelian, and other precious hard stones. Rich Emerald Green Lacquer with Gold Designs and Border each Panel on the front panels. The back of each panel is carved in gold with the character longevity in various forms of blossoming trees. The screen has hung in the central hall of a large wealthy patron's palatial Japanese residence in the past, as well as in the Grand Foyer of the Harkness Estate. Center panel 21" W x 50" H, second panels 10" W x 47" H each and last panels 10" W x 45" H each
