The jar is a deep red glaze with tan and grey horses traveling on a carousel around the base. Marked "made in Italy" with the original sticker for J.W.Co. on the bottom. Lid Included.

Made in Italy for J.W.Co. (John Wanamaker & Company). During the 20th Century, as is done today, it was customary for major American department store chains to import foreign ceramics for their customers. John Wanamaker & Company was the first major retail department store in Philadelphia. In 1896, it opened the first of two retail stores in New York City. They were a major source of employment in New York City until they closed their doors in the 1950s. See less
