An original sketch, pen & ink and watercolor, by James Duffield Harding, OWS, British artist 1798-1863, "Italian Fisher Folk - Bavano, Italy, August 31, 1845, from a sketch book of Hardings during a trip to Lago Maggiore, northern Italy. 5" x 7", titled and dated in the top left corner front.
This work is beautifully detailed in ink with rich watercolors and white gouache. A wonderful example of Harding's eye for detail.
The work is unsigned and is one of his working sketches.
The painting is recently matted with Museum matboard, Museum Glass and museum backing, framed in 5/8" Munn antiqued gold reproduction moulding. less
