Description: A superbly carved and detailed 19th century Japanese lacquered screen with an oval paint decorated center of birds and flowering … more A superbly carved and detailed 19th century Japanese lacquered screen with an oval paint decorated center of birds and flowering branches and red lacquered background within a heavily carved floral, branch and leaf frame. The screen is in a style known as Yokohama or Hamamono and dates to 19th century. Although the stones have not survived, the splendor and artistic merit of this densely ornamented piece is still evident.
