As described by the English … more Carved wood cherub putto angel figure, holding a musical instrument (lyre). On heavy iron stand. As described by the English dealer who sold this to me: This piece was sourced in France but may be of far eastern origin. It was a papier mache mould dating to circa 1920s, possibly a bit later. Papier mache would have been shaped around the mould and then cut through and off. Thus, shows lots scrapes and marks and all the character, reflective of his original purpose. Really great piece, lovely and of impressive scale at 20 1/2” inches tall on stand. The carving alone is 17” inches tall. It can be removed from the later added stand. Also, when on the stand, can be rotated for the view of your choice. less
