The Karaja area is within the Heriz district in NW Persia and weaves scatters runners and the occasional larger carpet with alternations of characteristic squared octogramme and ivory hooked hexagons, as on this iconic scatter with a red star and simplified turtle palmette border. Excellent bottle green. Cotton foundation, single weft passage, moderately coarse weave, symmetric knots. Good condition.
