He was born in West Texas and received both a bachelor's and master's degree from West Texas State. He resides in Albuquerque. He created this excellent watercolor in the 1980s. It is entitled "Acoma 1890" Work features an old Acoma pot (olla) with petroglyphs on both sides of the upper part of the pot. I was very struck by the incredible detail on the piece and how vivid it appears. In addition there is a small "box" in the matting that includes a piece of ancient pottery.

From an article I read, "shards are excavated by archaeologists who work with Public Service Company of New Mexico. The shards are cataloged b y the state. The state returns them to the company. The company makes them available to artist such as Michael McCullough. Per this article, the shards date back to 1100-1250 A.D." His work is available. in galleries in New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona. He has also had his works shown at Santa Fe Indian Market and many other market across the southwest.
