Vintage Mid century Takahashi, San Francisco, Asian Japanese chinoiserie hand painted and gilded cherry blossom Imari oval porcelain trinket Catchall.
This dainty decorated porcelain dish has a light celadon tone with traditional Imari Japanese blue, asian red, green and gold sherry blossom motifs.
On the bottom, Japanese signature in gold together with the stamp “Takahashi San Francisco Japan”.
Overall W 6.5" x D 5.25" x H 1.5"
Vintage piece in very good conditions, minor wear to the glaze in line with age and time.
This elegant piece will match with any chinoiserie decor.
In the 1950s, Henri and Tomoye Takahashi created the Takahashi Trading Company.
The business started out sending care packages from the United States to post-war Japan. However, the business later focused on importing goods from Japan to the United States. In particular, they imported hand-crafted items (mingeihin) and children's toys from various rural prefectures in Japan. Eventually, the businesses imported artful Japanese wares that previously were never imported to America. Today, those items are highly collectible. less
