A delicate impressionist view of this storied New Mexico settlement showing figures in an ox-drawn cart riding past a church beneath clouded blue skies.
James Vance grew up in Los Angeles and first applied himself to art at the Art Center School, while still a high school student. He continued his art studies at the Chouinard Art Center in Los Angeles and, subsequently, in New York at the Art Student's League. After completing his academic training, he began to exhibit nationally with success. When living in California, Vance worked in Hollywood as an illustrator, production designer and art director for movies and television and was the recipient of numerous prizes and awards. He is well-listed on IMDB. He was also an elected member of the American Watercolor Society and the California Watercolor SocietyI and, for many years, taught watercolor painting at the Kansas City Art Institute. We are pleased to offer this sensitive view of old Taos painted with the artist's characteristic delicacy of touch.
