- Very old and probably handmade piece that would likely have been for a store. It's a slant top desk that … more Very old and probably handmade piece that would likely have been for a store. It's a slant top desk that would sit on a counter. I think it is pine. Note the fabulous inlay on the drawers at the keyholes. The 2 drawers both have a diamond shape, and the top has a diamond and heart shaped wood inlay. Also note the old writing on the inside top in chalk. That's partially why I think it was in a store. It has a level section on the back and trim around the sides and front (note a partial piece on one corner as shown). One of the drawers has a knot hole in it that was covered a long time ago with a tin can lid! Also note the way it is constructed on the inside with the square "feet". Such a cool piece of Americana that also can be very functional for storing computers, files, magazines, etc.! Note below where it asks for knee clearance I've put. 5 this piece is meant to sit on a counter or table, etc. There are tiny legs that are about 5". Other measurements include the drawers, which are 13" wide and 3" deep. less
