This listing is for … Read more Vintage Royal China 22K gold encrusted cabinet plate with neoclassical Angelica Kauffman painting in the center. This listing is for a large, single, extravagant Royal China plate. The border of the plate is covered in 22K gold scroll work and the center has a whimsical neoclassical painting from Angelica Kauffman showing two women in a garden playing with a young child. If you look closely "Angelica Kauffman" is written in small lettering in the corner of the garden scene. The backside has Royal China's gold makers mark seal and reads "warranted 22 carat". Excellent condition!

About Maria Anna Angelika Kauffmann: She lived from October 30, 1741 until November 5, 1807. She was usually known in English as Angelica Kauffman and was a Swiss Neoclassical painter who had a successful career in London and Rome. She is remembered primarily as a history painter, a skilled portraitist, landscape and decoration painter. She was, along with Mary Moser, one of the two female founding members of the Royal Academy in London in 1768.
