The lower lock turns with the key but doesn't really latch well if you want to keep it tightly secured to store something of value. Top can be lifted off so lower and upper cabinets can be used separately if desired. The lower part of the cabinet-the height from the bottom of the cabinet to the lower shelf is 12", from the shelf to the top of the cabinet is 22.25" This is a really wonderful piece of Tuscan antique furniture. less

It’s a … more This 19th century Tuscan antique cabinet was originally used in a sacristy from a convent near Siena, Italy. It’s a wonderful rustic cabinet that is made of 2 separate pieces. The top and lower doors open and would have stored sacred vessels and church records. The worn imperfections of the wood give this cabinet unique character. It's rustic, simple and utilitarian, and in today’s fussy world, these qualities are what many antique lovers appreciate most.
