A unique Cire Perdue gilt bronze sculpture of roses by Louis Ernest Barrias.
The singular lost wax cast of a still life of roses is mounted on a rosewood plinth.
Signed in the plinth "P. Bingen Cire Perdue" and "épreuve unique".
Sotheby's offered a similar example in their 19th and 20th century sculpture sale on July 12, 2017. Lot 87.
These sculptures seem to be variations on a theme that Barrias played with for a short period of time - each being unique and by definition the direct result of the artist's hand.
Measures: Length ca. 8 1/8 in.
