It was originally designed and sold … Read more This side table was produced in 1987’s by the Kovona Company in former Czechoslovakia. It was originally designed and sold as a tv or radio display side table. The overall design of this piece is similar to the work of Pierre Guariche and Verner Panton in the 1960’s.

The table consists of a rectangular beech table top that is fixed on the underside to a stainless steel support. The tabletop can be easily swivelled and adjusted from side to side. The tabletop support is a vertical steel tube with four horizontal legs in an X shape at the bottom. The legs then stands on small white plastic spheres that are partly hidden at the end of each leg. That prevents the legs from scratching the floor surface but also makes the table to look visually lighter. This stainless steel support contrasts nicely with the natural beauty of the beech wood pattern.

This piece can still function as a TV or Radio display table but can be also used as a coffee or general side table.

The table is in great vintage condition. The old lacquer has been removed and all wooden parts have been cleaned and newly polished in a recent restoration while using original techniques and materials. There is some minimal wear on the table top and some minimal patina on the steel legs. This piece has an attribution mark,
