Hand-colored mezzotint by Richard Earlom (English, 1743 - 1822) after an oil painting by Jan Van Huysum (Dutch, 1682 - 1749) titled "A Flower Piece." The image was published by John Boydell (English, 1720 - 1804) in 1778.
Earlom was a well-known intaglio printer and artist. He was commissioned to print many prints after renowned English painters. Van Huysum was a prolific painter best known for his fruit and floral still lifes.
