Very very sturdy thickness of sitting top is 1.6 inches. And it is made from Makarana Marble of which monument Tajmahal was built in 17th century.
It is so sturdy that at a time it can easily afford weight of 4 people.
It is in three parts Sitting top and two pedestals. As the top is too heavy it won't move at all once it is placed upon pedastals.
Size of Sitting Top is
48 inches length,
15.75 inches width and
19.75 Height.
On both pedestals inlay work is done on only front side as shown in pictures rest 3 side of pedestals are plain white.
The process of Marble Inlay is a traditional art carried in the family of the people those who worked on beautiful and exquisite buildings like Taj Mahal.
It is a time taking process .
First we take Plain piece of Marble.
We draw the design on it
Then we shape the designs out of semi precious stones used in marble inlay art like Lapizlazuli, Malachite, Cornelian, Tourquoise, Jasper, Mother of Pearl, Pawa Shell, Etc.
We have a Emery wheel which helps to make patterns out of the stones.
We draw the patterns on the slices of the stones then hold them against the Emery wheel and then shape it one by one. Time taken to shape a piece depends on the size and shape. More small pieces takes more time.
After that we cut the cavities in the Marble with the help of diamond pointed tools.
Then the shaped pieces are glued in the Marble cavities.
In the end we polish and finish the piece and then the finished pieces are ready for our collection for our customers. less
