A lovely antique circa 1900-1910s glass match striker with sterling silver rim in a slightly elongated, almost teardrop shape with a bulbus base that tapers a bit at the top. The match holding cup also sits a little deeper in the striker, so less of the matches are exposed, making it look even more tapered near the top. Someone definitely had a bit of fun making this one, i’ve never seen another one quite like it! Excellent antique condition, just some small signs of age and use, a few small flea bites to the glass and a few slight surface marks to the Sterling collar. Fully hallmarked for sterling silver assayed in Birmingham, but I am unable to make out the date stamp.
