After the original Charles Cressent bureau plat (circa 1740), this French desk from the 1800s is in the style of Louis XV. A large black leather writing surface is surrounded by a two-toned wood veneer and a thick bronze dore molding. Impressive bronze mounts can be seen on all sides of the three-drawer desk, including foliate mascarons, pierced leaf curls, and à têtes de guerriers antiques (ancient warrior heads) over all four cabriolet legs.
