RARE - MCM Krenit Bowl; Original Herbert Krenchel Orange Red & Black Enamel Bowl; Danish Scandinavian; Marked Krenchel Krenit Bowl 9.75”
These Scandinavian modern style bowls were made in Denmark by Torben Ørskov & Co in the 1950's to early 1960's and designed by the Danish scientist (yes, a scientist), Herbert Krenchel. The bowls are made of steel and have colorful acid-proof enamel on the interior and matte, sand-blasted black fiber cement (asbestos-free Eternit) on the exterior. Krenchel named the series, Krenit, which is derived from the external material and the name of the designer. The first of these colored enamel bowls were produced in 1953 and they came in eight different sizes and in eight standard colors. The best-selling range of bowls were continuously in production until 1965 and have become Danish design classics. The bowl offered in this listing is marked on the bottom, which was uncommon in the early years of production.
In great used vintage condition. Being a vintage item, there may be minor imperfections. Otherwise I find no chips, nicks, cracks, crazing, or repairs. Inside enamel is nice and shiny. Some wear on the matte black outside, as shown in the photos. ALL PHOTOS ARE PART OF THE DESCRIPTION
