Old so-called Mauritanian rug or Touareg rug from the 1950s.
Entirely handmade by Touareg women, these incredible size rugs are used to protect the ground when the tents are set up, and to sit comfortably.
Composed of dried palm fibers finely split into small strips - reminiscent of very small wooden slats -, leather, fabric, threads\. We love its exceptional patina, which proves its previous uses and its former lives.
Everything is woven with delicacy and incredible patience, it is a long-term job.
The mat has singular and unique graphic patterns.
The rug has signs of use and wear, making it a unique piece.
It has a very slightly rounded shape, because certain rugs were also used to put at the bottom of tents, which themselves are sometimes round.
Please refer to the numerous photos for the general condition of the carpet.
