USA, Late 20th Century
Burled walnut dining table, having a rounded rectangular top with molded and cross-banded borders inlaid with double arrow pattern bands. The shaped frieze has a carved gadrooned border and rests on cabriole legs that are carved on the knees with scrolls and acanthus leaves and terminates in pad feet. Very good condition with original surface.
Measures: 78"W x 48"D x 29.38"H. Extends up to 130.5"W with three 17.5" leaves.
This table appears in The Dictionary of English Furniture, MacQuoid and Edwards. English c. 1710.
10 queen anne style matching walnut dining chairs, including 2 armchairs, 8 without arms. Floral and acanthus leaf design with claw and ball feet and rear club footed legs. Some chips of the feet, and some upholstery intact but areas containing stains and scratches, will be in need of re-upholstery. One arm chair had an arm that was repaired.
