The Modernist lithograph print poster is published by Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, New York City.
Printed in 1965 in an unnumbered limited edition of 500 on the occasion of the opening of The Vivian Beaumont Theater. It features a Mid Century Modernist artwork image created by Ellsworth Kelly / Commissioned by Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts for The List Art Posters Program of The American Federation of Arts.
This is a rare opportunity for true Ellsworth Kelly and Mid Century Modernism fans and collectors as this coveted image extra large lithograph print poster is long out of print and very scarce to find. In this work, Kelly lends his Minimalist aesthetic to promote the cultural institution, resulting in a remarkably graphic composition that was considerably ahead of its time.
Ellsworth Kelly (1923 - 2015 ) is an American born Minimalist Modernist Color Field painter. His work emphasizes line, color, and form. The experimental bold artworks are considered to be some of the most important Modernist Minimalist paintings of The Twentieth Century. Artworks by Kelly are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
The Vivian Beaumont Theater is a Broadway Theater in the Lincoln Center complex on The Upper West Side in New York City. It is the only Broadway Theater outside The Theater District near Times Square. Named after heiress and actress Vivian Beaumont Allen, the theater was one of the last structures designed by Modernist architect Eero Saarinen. The Beaumont was inaugurated and officially opened on October 21. 1965.
