Offering an outstanding 1950s Italian Pietra Dura made with semi-precious stones depicting four white doves perched upon a bird bath with a black onyx background. The entire mosaic portion is made of different colored onyx and has a semi-gloss/satin finish. The frame is original to the piece and is made of gilded wood. Hanging apparatus on back.
Pietra Dura is a highly specialized art form requiring great care, skill and precision. It involves inlaying pieces of polished precious and semi-precious stones into a background marble, thus creating a 'painting in stone'.
VERY GOOD CONDITION. Some minor blemishes on the gold frame. No missing pieces.
