Based on its construction and … Read more This unique and very rare "Cylinder" drop leaf table in Walnut is an amazing piece. Based on its construction and hardware, it likely dates to the mid-19th century The two solid, one-piece walnut leaves roll up around the central cylinder to create a beautiful 36" square surface. The base is crafted in an empire style, complimenting the overall charm of this table. The table top and base do exhibit some wear and marks consistent with its age but overall, it is in very good condition. While not visible in use, note the detailed photo of the supporting brackets underneath the table, and the way in which they are hinged utilizing custom crafted, intricately hollowed wooden hinges. When both leaves are in the full, upright position, there is a small gap between the two leaves. This gap is a condition of the nature of the table's design, but we do not feel that it detracts from the functionality or the beauty of this rare piece.
