A rare and magnificent pair of very fine quality French Art Deco Modernist cabinets attributed to Christian Krass (France; 1868-1957) with design influence by Jacques Emile Ruhlmann (Paris, France; 1879-1933)
Exquisitely hand-crafted in France, circa 1930s, the highly skilled ébéniste sparing no expense finishing both the interior and exterior with extraordinarily rare burled thuja, highly figured bubinga, amboyna and other exotic precious woods.
The impressive sized, distinctly shaped sculptural cubist solid wood case having smooth curved corners and rounded molded edges mixed with angular canted front corners ornamented with contrasting ivorine and purple-heart geometric marquetry inlay, accented with brass mounts. Each cabinet fitted with a single recessed paneled door front adorned with fine gilt accented chrome pulls, opening to a large and spacious open interior in book-matched veneer finish.
Marks: Reverse signed by hand: CH 105; CH 202, verso marked C
