(wurttenbergische metallwarenfabric) … Read more Art nouveau german centerpiece by wmf, signed, ca 1900 an art nouveau centerpiece by the german company wmf. (wurttenbergische metallwarenfabric) a fruit bowl, raised on a base depicting a woman in a flowing dress as a foot holding a bowl above her head, with two children at the base in relief in the graceful and beautiful style of art nouveau. The bowl has beautiful leaves pattern on the outside. The inside was not further cleaned because of the remains of the gilding. The outside of the centerpiece with a silver glove. The centerpiece is marked in front of the base by wmf mark (used from 1880). The letters b for brittania metal, the ox for oxidized and the i/o for normal thickness of gilding and silver plating. Before the foundation of wmf, daniel straub had founded his first manufacturing company, maschinenfabrik geislingen. In 1880, the company merged with metallwarenfabrik ritter & co. From esslingen to form the public limited company württembergische metallwarenfabrik (wmf) in geislingen. The measurement is 42 cm high and 27 cm diagonal. The weight is 1785 grams this piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
