Vintage, Chinese, Art Deco advertising poster for the Beauty Cigarette from the 1930s. It features a 'modern' looking Chinese girl standing by her horse. Brand logo is displayed in the upper left corner and the retailer’s names on the bottom.
Pre-war Shanghai advertising posters are a distinct genre, that originally was intended for the promotion of a vast array of products. Cigarettes dominated this genre, which most often showed a modern, “western” woman in a traditional setting.
