An excellent circa 1980s reproduction of Tōshūsai Sharaku woodblock print depicting Kabuki Actor Sawamura Sojuro III as Ogishi Kurando. One of the original woodblocks by the great Japanese artist of the Edo period is located at Tokyo National Museum. Published in Japan in 1980s. Heavy paper, copy in Japanese and English on the back. Excellent condition, never framed, like new, but feels almost like original woodblock print. Superb quality. Comes from 50 y.o. collection of Asian Art in Japan. Japan, 1980s.
Colors are soft and beautiful. There is no silver o the background, but this silver effect is created by different shades of gray and creamy white.
