My process-based abstract paintings and drawings combine traditional explorations of color, shape, surface, and scale with expressive line work. I employ an interior, personal process rooted in drawing, which involves layers of doing, undoing and re-doing and allowing the artwork evolve over time. My work draws upon the art of the color field and Postwar gestural painters upon which I introduce qualities such as curiosity, awkwardness, self-doubt and wonder into my practice. My artworks include large and small sale paintings on paper and canvas created in acrylic paint, acrylic ink, graphite, charcoal, oil pastels and wax crayons.

Artificial Flower Number Two was created with a combination of acrylic ink, oil pastel and graphite. It is on a side-stapled stretched canvas (.5 inch profile), and has a hanging wire. See less
