The work depicts the Virgin holding the sleeping Child in her lap, lovingly clasping him with her hands, covered only by a white cloth that enhances the chromatic contrast of the Madonna's dark mantle.

The Virgin has a pink robe with white drapery covering her head and shoulders, her head tilted downwards and gently rests on the Child's blond hair.

The presence of an old lining indicates that the work has gone through centuries of history and various restorations over the years. Removing the overpainting is an important step in bringing the authenticity of the work to light, highlighting the quality of the original composition. It comes from northern Italy and comes with a frame in solid molded walnut finished in shellac.
