Exceptional pair of very rare and unusual Continental Rococo bronze stanchions having paired, outward facing Ammon horned mythical figures with remarkably detailed and expressive faces. Busts rest on bound, exaggerated C scrolls with an undulating base There is a palmette motif on one side and an open-mouth mascaron water spout on the other. An additional mascaron adorns the base. Late 18th or early 19th C. Original Verde Gris patina. Can easily be repurposed as lamppost base, table base, etc.
