What makes these plates special is the subtle variation of nautical scenes which surround the borders depicting different seasons, weather and different times of day. They were masterfully painted by the renown Minton artist James Edwin Dean, famous for his maritime themed subjects. The scenes vary subtly, yet the colors are eye-catching and the variations are captivating.
